Certificates awarded by AWCI are valid for a limited time. The Mechanic and Industry Professional certificates are valid for five years, and the EIFS Inspector certificate for three years. Your certificate’s expiration date is listed on your certificate and wallet card, and also on the national Certification Roster.
You must renew your credential prior to its expiration date by meeting all recertification requirements as outlined in the Recertification Packet. Click on the appropriate link below to download and print your packet. All required forms and instructions are included.

The Recertification Packets are large—about 40 pages—because they include the EIFS Review and Update Digest. The digest serves as a refresher course and is required reading for recertification. If you prefer to receive the packet via mail or e-mail, or if you have any questions about recertification, please contact Sue Dolan at (703) 538-1612 or dolan@awci.org.
EIFS Inspectors only: To recertify, you must retake and pass the national examination prior to your certificate’s expiration date. Plan to test early. Details are included in the Recertification Packet.
By renewing your credential as a Mechanic, Industry Professional, or EIFS Inspector, you:
- Demonstrate your commitment to provide quality services by staying up-to-date with industry standards for correct installation.
- Prepare yourself to meet future mandates and insurance requirements.
- Receive an updated certificate and wallet card.
- Continue to be listed on AWCI’s National Registry.
If you decide not to renew, and you find yourself in need of the credential at a later date, you will have to complete the entire education and certification process over as if you had never been certified.
