My wife Barb and I recently returned from AWCI’s Industry Executives’ Conference & Committee Week in San Diego where we enjoyed the great California weather and good times with fellow attendees.
The conference speakers were impressive. Bob Losyk talked about dealing with a diverse work force, and Will Hill from FMI gave his expertise on succession planning.
Special thanks must go out to Ron and Mary Alice Brady for opening their beautiful home to the AWCI Past Presidents, and to members of the AWCI and Foundation Executive Committees. As grand prize winner in the 50/50 raffle later in the week, Ron and Mary Alice continued their generosity by donating their winnings back to the AWCI Cares program.
AWCI Cares is a program that started a few years ago to raise money for AWCI members and their families in times of crisis. The process of getting support for an employer or employee is sensitive to the applicant’s condition. All requests to the committee are anonymous; only one AWCI staff member sees the actual requests for support. Under the leadership of Chairperson Terrie Miller, members of the AWCI Cares leadership team review each anonymous application and decide how much money to donate. We are proud that 100 percent of what is donated by our AWCI members to AWCI Cares goes back out to help AWCI members in need.
AWCI is filled with giving people like the Bradys ... Joe
Olivieri of the Association of Wall-Ceiling & Carpentry Industries of New York is one of them; he also gave his raffle winnings back to AWCI’s programs, including AWCI Cares. With continued member support, I believe that AWCI Cares will be something we all can be proud of. I urge you to get involved and give back to this great industry. Please contact Debra Crawford at (703) 538.1615, or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to help or if you have any questions about the program.
