Wind-lockŪ, Leesport, Pa., recently held its second Trimroc Interior Moulding sales training class in Reading, Pa. Ten Wind-lock dealers and distributors attended the class, which included classroom training and hands-on product training, where attendees installed mouldings.
Powers Fasteners, Inc., New Rochelle, N.Y., has appointed Robert Brito branch manager of the company's Atlanta branch warehouse. Brito will have outside sales responsibility for the states of Georgia and Alabama. The company also has named Scott Glasnap branch manager of the company's Phoenix branch warehouse. Glasnap has more than 14 years' experience in construction sales. Finally, Powers Fasteners, Inc. has promoted John Partridge to branch manager of its New York City area branch warehouse. He will have outside sales responsibility for the southern portions of New York, including the metropolitan area, as well as all of Connecticut and New Jersey.
Master Wall Inc. of Columbus, Ga., has hired Leo Crowell as the company's Midwest/Southwest Regional Manager. His responsibilities include the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
LaHabra has added William Rossetter as product manager for the company's cementitious stucco. He is well versed in ISO/QS9000 Quality Systems and has experience in product launches, competitive analysis, product rationalizations and collateral development.
The International Fire Code Council of the International Code Council has appointed Michael Gardner, executive director of the Gypsum Association, Washington, D.C., to the Fire Safety Committee of the International Building Code. Gardner will serve on the committee for the 18 month code development cycle, from Jan. 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006.
CertainTeed Corporation, Valley Forge, Pa., announces that two more of its manufacturing facilities have surpassed one-million hours of operation without a lost-time accident. A lost-time accident is defined as one that prevents an employee from returning to work the following day. In total, seven CertainTeed plants have reached this million-hour milestone and have been inducted into the company's Millionaires' Club.
Melissa "Missy" Merfeld has joined BPB America, Tampa, Fla., as product manager for ceilings. In her new position, Merfeld will be responsible for marketing and managing the ceiling tile brands in the United States and Canada.
Bosch Tools, Mount Prospect, Ill., has redesigned its Web site, www.boschtools.com, to add features such as 360-degree product views, video demos, accessory and attachment recommendations and "Buy It Now" online shopping. The new Bosch site also has a more detailed Product Services area.
Armstrong Ceilings has presented a special environmental award to Nike, Inc. and the architectural firm of Thompson Vaivoda & Associates of Portland, Ore. in recognition of Nike's ceiling recycling efforts. Nike participates in the Armstrong Ceiling Recycling Program and recently recycled more than 100,000 square feet of old ceiling tiles at its Beaverton, Ore., campus. The discarded tiles were shipped to the Armstrong ceiling plant in nearby St. Helens, Ore.
