January 2006"Final Night” Is Now a Party with a Purpose!
After many years of success, the Final Night event at the AWCI annual convention will be retired. Starting in 2006, what was once called the "AWCI Final Night Gala with Foundation Silent and Live Auctions” will be replaced by "AWCI’s Party with a Purpose” and "Beach Blanket Blowout.”
In the past, the Final Night Gala and auctions featured a formal sit-down dinner, a silent auction, a live auction and a car and jewelry raffles. But this year, as the name suggests, the Beach Blanket Blowout is a laid-back party that will feature hors d’oeuvres, drinks, music and attendees in their Hawaiian shirts and surfer shorts, rather than their evening gowns and tuxedos.
Because the Foundation still needs your support, the auctions will still be held. During band breaks is when the live auction will take place, and the new car will be raffled, as will a David Yurman bracelet.
Another change is with the car raffle. No more seeing whose key turns over the car’s engine; in 2006, if yours is the name on the winning raffle ticket, you automatically win the car.
Get there early to take advantage of the live auction, because in 2006, only a limited number of items will be offered.
Prior to the blowout is AWCI’s Party with a Purpose. This is where the silent auction will take place, as will a sit-down dinner.
Attendees can attend one or both events. Do you have a previous dinner engagement with a potential client? Go, but join us later for the Beach Blanket Blowout.

2006 Golf Event Will Be at the Skylinks Golf Course
The annual golf tournament to benefit the Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry will be held April 27, 2006, at the Skylinks Golf Course in Long Beach, Calif., during AWCI’s annual convention. Sponsored by American Gypsum, the tournament’s proceeds are put to good use for the programs administered by the Foundation.

Online Buyers’ Guide Has New Companies
For nearly 10 years, AWCI’s Web site has included a searchable version of the annual Buyers’ Guide—www.awci.org/buyersguide. In 2003, AWCI integrated manufacturer and supplier company literature published in the Member Products Catalog, the collection of AWCI member manufacturer literature. Last November, AWCI updated the Online Buyers’ Guide to include the most current information from members who participated in the Member Products Catalog 2006.
