February 20062006 Convention Offers Education from Three Industry Associations
Those who purchase full-registration tickets for AWCI’s Annual Convention and Intex Expo in Long Beach, Calif., April 25–30, 2006, can also attend any of the education sessions hosted during the conventions of the Ceilings & Interior Systems Construction Association and the EIFS Industry Members Association. Both CISCA’s and EIMA’s annual convention are being held during the same time as the AWCI annual convention.
The AWCI convention’s headquarters hotel is the Hyatt Regency. CISCA’s headquarters hotel is The Westin Long Beach, and EIMA’s is the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel. All three hotels are in very close proximity to each other and to the Long Beach Convention Center where Intex Expo will be held April 28–29.

• Sexual Harassment Prevention.
Based on new California laws, Sexual Harassment Prevention will help you and your employees understand what sexual harassment is, teach you how to train your supervisors to maintain a work environment that is free from harassment, and educate supervisors and managers about how to handle a sexual-harassment complaint.
A highlight of CISCA’s educational opportunities will be when Dale Carnegie Group presents "Motivate Yourself—Impact Your Future.” If you would like to enhance your leadership skills, motivational skills, sales and customer service skills and/or life skills using the Dale Carnegie Methods, then this is a must-attend event. This session will be offered on April 27, 2006, at the Westin Long Beach. Because this is such an exceptional program, there will be only one chance to participate, and space is limited. Attendees will be rewarded with their own "Carnegie Certificate.”
To attend any education sessions offered by the three industry associations, all attendees have to do is purchase a full registration package to one of the associations’ conventions. Other benefits to the full package include entrance to joint functions that offer tremendous networking opportunities and full admittance into the exhibit hall on both days of the trade show.

AWCI Cares Is Off to an Early Start
Although AWCI Cares, AWCI’s newest program and member benefit, is still in its infancy, 12 donations for a total of $6,350 have already been made to the program. Announced just last month, AWCI Cares is a program that will provide financial benefit to people who work for AWCI-member companies when they are faced with hard times due to unforeseen circumstances, such as the death of the head of household.
To keep the momentum going, all the proceeds from the 2006 jewelry raffle will go toward AWCI Cares. The raffle will be conducted during AWCI’s annual convention. Tickets are $25 each, or five tickets for $100. The jewelry is a David Yurman bracelet donated by Richter System Gmbh & Co. KG, Griesheim, Germany.
"AWCI Cares is meeting a need we did not realize we had,” said AWCI Cares Committee Chairwoman Terrie Miller. "AWCI members are among the most giving, big-hearted people I have ever met. They are truly appreciated.”

AWCI’s Lifetime Members Celebrate 20 Years
AWCI’s Lifetime Members will be honored at an invitation-only dinner on April 27, during AWCI’s annual convention in Long Beach, Calif. One couple from each company (listed at left) will be treated to this exclusive event; additional people from the Lifetime Member company may attend at their expense.
AWCI’s Lifetime Membership was created in 1986 to assist the association when it experienced difficult financial times. AWCI would not be here today if it had not been for the generous donations of the founding members, who kept the association afloat. Those who belong to the ranks of the Lifetime Members pay one lump sum, and then never pay membership dues again.

AWCI E-Newsletter Is 1 Year Old!
It was one year ago last month that the print edition of AWCI Members Only, the monthly newsletter that is delivered only to members of the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry, joined the "Cyberspace Age” by introducing its electronic counterpart, AWCI Members Only—Online.
The first electronic newsletter was e-mailed Jan. 14, 2005 to 1,215 members, but in just one year its circulation increased to 2,166 members with the distribution of the Dec. 15, 2005, issue.
The electronic version of the newsletter contains extra features not found in the print version, in addition to more legislative and regulatory content than the quarterly AWCI’s Government Relations Update can provide.
