AWCI Welcomes New Safety Director

Today Pete Chaney begins working for AWCI in the newly created position of director of safety, health and risk management. In this role, Chaney runs point on construction safety and health regulations, guidance and best practices. He will be working closely with the AWCI Safety Directors Committee and various industry coalitions to represent the wall and ceiling industry with regard to safety and health.

Chaney brings more than 35 years of experience to AWCI. Prior to joining AWCI, he served as executive director of safety, health and risk management for the Mechanical Contractors Association of America for 25 years. Prior to that he was at AGC of America serving in a construction health and safety role. He is currently a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, the National Fire Protection Association and the National Safety Council, among others.

“Last year AWCI made a commitment to invest in making our health and safety programs more robust,” said AWCI President Shawn Burnum. “We worked with our members to find programs and education that would be helpful to them. Pete will be instrumental in helping to develop these programs, peer reviews and discussions on these very important topics.”
