Moisture Resistance You Can Rely On
Sponsored Feature by Georgia-Pacific
Georgia-Pacific’s Dens® Suite of Gypsum Products is a family of fiberglass mat gypsum building products with enhanced moisture and mold resistance for commercial and residential projects. The Dens Suite of Gypsum Products offers interior, exterior and roofing solutions to help improve the resiliency of buildings as they age.
Why Fiberglass Mat Gypsum?
Gypsum, a mineral found near sedimentary rocks, is widely used across the United States, with more than 30 million tons consumed annually. Its fire resistance originally made it a popular building material, but Georgia-Pacific revolutionized gypsum over 35 years ago by introducing fiberglass mat facers.
Georgia-Pacific has continued to innovate gypsum solutions into what has become the Dens® Suite of Gypsum Products. Fiberglass mat gypsum products are noncombustible and help slow the spread of flames and smoke in the event of a fire. They also have benefits like noise reduction and moisture resistance, plus can help minimize mold and mildew. This can help protect structures during installation, so crews can stay on schedule while guarding building owners against costly repairs in the future.
The Georgia-Pacific Advantage
Building and design professionals have relied on Georgia-Pacific products since 1927. Their reliable, in-field technical support and sales team is available to help you from the start of a project all the way to completion. They know how important it is to avoid delays, so you won’t have to wait hours for a callback. Plus, Georgia-Pacific makes sure you get what you need delivered to your job site quickly and on time.
Indoor mold can be mitigated by controlling moisture inside a building. Many wall coverings that are durable and easy to clean have low permeability to moisture, which can heighten interior condensation. This means that internal wall components must be carefully chosen to resist moisture while eliminating paper and other nutrients that support mold growth. The Dens® Suite of Interior Gypsum Products does just that1.
DensArmor Plus® Interior Panels
DensArmor Plus Interior Panels are used on flat or curved structures in spaces prone to high humidity, like basements and bathrooms. They also perform well in areas with high-volume foot traffic, such as hospitals and schools. When used in commercial pre-drywall applications, DensArmor Plus Interior Panels stand up to ambient moisture and incidental wettings during and after construction. This can help your projects stay on schedule. They are also backed with a limited warranty against delamination and deterioration for up to 12 months of exposure to normal weather conditions.
DensGlass Shaftliner is used in UL fire-rated shaft walls, stairwells and separation wall assemblies. It is also used in horizontal shaft walls and duct assemblies. DensGlass Shaftliner is noncombustible and can help save space compared to heavy masonry construction in building cores. Its quick, simple installation method means it won’t delay construction during cold weather. And because DensGlass Shaftliner is moisture resistant, it’s suitable for use in semi-exposed areas before the building envelope is wind and weather tight. It also has a limited warranty for up to 12 months of exposure to normal weather conditions.
DensShield® Tile Backer
As the first backer board engineered with a built-in moisture barrier, DensShield Tile Backer helps prevent damage to the subfloor and wall cavity. It allows you to skip the step of installing a secondary moisture barrier to make installation easier and help reduce labor. It also cuts and can be installed like drywall, without needing special tools or fasteners. Use it for ceramic tile underlayment, including bathroom remodels and kitchens.
The Dens® Suite of Gypsum Products includes exterior solutions to help add strength and resiliency to your structures. They offer the flexibility you need to get jobs done in all types of weather conditions.
DensGlass Sheathing is the number-one architecturally specified fiberglass mat gypsum sheathing. DensGlass Sheathing panels have scored a 10—the highest level of performance for mold resistance—under the ASTM D3273 test method. They also are extremely resistant to rippling, buckling and sagging, even under humid conditions. In testing, the panels exceeded ASTM C1396 standards for humidified deflection by a factor of five times over the standard for paper-faced gypsum sheathing.
DensGlass Sheathing has an exemplary track record that spans more than 30 years. That’s why it’s a preferred substrate under brick, stone, stucco, siding and EIFS.
DensElement® Barrier System
DensElement Barrier System is made up of integrated gypsum sheathing used with accessories engineered to create a water-resistive barrier and air barrier (WRB/AB) system. It can help reduce the number of trips installers have to make around the building and can be used in all weather conditions. This can help mitigate risks while achieving faster dry-in.
DensDeck® Roof Boards
DensDeck Roof Boards are a family of gypsum cover boards with enhanced protection against fire, wind, puncture and hail for commercial low-slope roofs. DensDeck Roof Boards reinforce rooftops to help you avoid callbacks for repairs, as well as increase a roof’s lifespan and prepare it for future installations.
