GMS Inc., Tucker, Ga., has announced a definitive agreement to acquire 100 percent of the equity interests of WSB Titan (“Titan”) for total consideration of approximately $627 million. Headquartered in Toronto, Titan is Canada’s largest gypsum specialty dealer serving the residential, commercial and institutional markets with key products including wallboard, insulation, lumber, roofing, steel framing, and other complementary building products. Titan was founded in 2009 through the partnership of Watson Building Supplies and Shoemaker Drywall Supplies, and expanded the platform in 2015 through the acquisition of Slegg Building Materials, a family-run wallboard and building supplies distributor formed in 1947.
In addition, GMS Inc. has acquired two distribution businesses: the GSD distribution operations of Grabber Construction Products, Inc. in Concord, Calif., and the GSD assets of CMH Distributing, Inc. in Kearney, Neb.
In conjunction with its relocation to Pittsburg, Calif., Grabber Construction Products, Inc. sold its Concord, Calif., gypsum yard to GMS Inc. This acquisition represents GMS’ entry into the San Francisco Bay Area. The acquisition pairs the operations of Grabber Concord, which has serviced customers in the Bay Area for over 30 years, with the operational expertise, service and scale of GMS subsidiary J&B Materials, Inc. The Concord location represents the seventh location for J&B including those currently in Southern California and Hawaii.
In Nebraska, the GSD assets of CMH Distributing, Inc. are being acquired by Cherokee Building Materials and will join GMS’ Drywall Supply, Inc. brand in Nebraska. It will be the third location in the state for DSI, which has longstanding operations in Lincoln and Omaha that serve commercial and residential customers throughout Nebraska.
The acquisition of the Kearney-based distribution operation will bring DSI’s products and services to customers in Central and Western Nebraska.
