LafargeHolcim Recognized for Outstanding Safety Performance by PCA

LafargeHolcim has been recognized by the Portland Cement Association for its outstanding safety performance and innovative approaches to increasing safety metrics.

The Devil’s Slide Plant in Morgan, Utah, received the 2017 Chairman’s Safety Performance Award. In 2016, the plant experienced no lost time or medical treatment incidents, and recently celebrated more than two years without a site medical treatment incident.

The company also received PCA’s Safety Innovation Award for their “Pneumatic Hatch Program,” first rolled out across its tanker truck fleet in North Dakota. Installing pneumatic hatches on tanker trucks was an important safety feature because they eliminated the need for drivers to climb on equipment, decreasing risks of falls and reducing loading time. The team also led an initiative to have these pneumatic hatches installed in the tankers used by the company’s third-party carriers.
