Remember the Alamo!

In March, the hallowed ground of the historic city of San Antonio, Texas, was host to AWCI’s Convention & INTEX Expo. Remember it I will as it was the last major event of my tenure as your 80th AWCI president. I will be turning over the reins to President-elect Craig Daley of Daley’s Drywall & Taping on July 1.

I will remember the many sponsors who donated time and hard-earned dollars to help make this convention so successful. We are all eternally thankful. I will remember the men and women who took and continue to take time away from their businesses to work on so many of our committees, councils, educational sessions and forum groups for the betterment of our Industry.

I will also remember how hard the exhibitors and our AWCI staff work to put together one of the finest trade shows in the construction industry. It is such a joy to walk through the aisles of the show and meet all of you and see all the new and innovative products helping us to compete.

I will remember the opening session and the Awards Presentation Brunch and how impressive the winning projects were. And how about our keynote speaker, Drew Pearson? He went from an undrafted free agent to becoming a Pro Bowler and was a key component in the Dallas Cowboys team that appeared in three Super Bowls and won it all in 1978.

But most of all I will remember the many faces and friendships that have been forged over the years in AWCI and the pleasure of seeing all of you gathered at these conventions. It is truly an enjoyable experience, and the time together with old friends and getting to know new friends is invaluable to me and my closest advisor and roommate Mrs. Burley.

Thanks to all of you who attended and helped make San Antonio a memorable convention. And to those of you who could not attend, we will look forward to seeing you all at the convention next year, March 31–April 3 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nev.

Warmest regards,

Jeff
