From Dryvit Systems, Inc.
Dryvit Systems, Inc. has launched a breakthrough new brick product that will allow EIFS installers to bid for exterior cladding work when clay brick is specified as the exterior cladding material. Since many exterior cladding jobs call for both clay brick and EIFS, traditional EIFS installers will now be able to provide a bid for both the EIFS and brick cladding, enabling a general contractor to work with a single contractor for a building’s exterior cladding.
NewBrick can be installed with Dryvit’s Outsulation® system to meet continuous insulation requirements or directly over a masonry substrate. The lightweight product can dramatically increase brick installation productivity and provide new options for architects, contractors and building owners who wish to include brick as part of a new or renovated building’s exterior cladding.
At 1/12th of the weight of traditional clay brick, NewBrick is a lightweight insulated brick product. It matches clay brick’s classic size and appearance, but addresses today’s construction challenges by improving the thermal efficiency of the building. Added features include a built in horizontal alignment guide that eliminates the need for support pans and mortar joint spacers and also establishes the perfect 3/8" spacing for the mortar, reducing installation time and saving money. No brick ties are needed, eliminating penetrations through the water resistive barrier. NewBrick also reduces the amount of steel, concrete and engineering on the project.
When NewBrick is installed over an Outsulation® system, benefits include a full system warranty for 10+ years, depending on system, including the air/water-resistive barrier. It provides continuous insulation and meets IECC requirements. It is also compliant with NFPA 285 fire testing and California’s Title 24, Part 6 Energy Code. In addition, it can contribute to LEED points.
