2007 Convention Offers Education from Two Industry Associations
Those who purchase full-registration tickets for AWCI’s Annual Convention and Intex Expo in Orlando, Fla., April 1–5, 2007, can also attend any of the education sessions hosted during the Ceilings & Interior Systems Construction Association’s convention, which is being held at the same time as the AWCI annual convention, at the Walt Disney Dolphin Hotel.
To attend any education sessions offered by either industry association, all attendees have to do is purchase a full registration package to either the AWCI convention or the CISCA convention. Other benefits to the full package include entrance to joint functions that offer tremendous networking opportunities and full admittance into the exhibit hall on both days of the trade show.
The education-session topics that will be covered during AWCI’s convention include managing your company’s HR function, advanced curves and surfaces, setting goals, negotiating, cold-formed steel and building green.
A highlight of CISCA’s educational opportunities will be “The Disney Institute Difference.” This three-hour workshop will blend two key programs—quality service and loyalty, based on Disney strategies. This workshop will be offered on April 3, 2007, and space is limited.
Sign up now by going to AWCI’s Web site, www.awci.org, and clicking on “Convention and Intex Expo.” Register by March 2, 2007, to receive early bird savings.
Come to the Party with a Purpose & Lava Lounge
The Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry’s Party with a Purpose silent auction and dinner celebration is April 4, 6:30 p.m.—8:30 p.m., during AWCI’s Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla. This annual fundraiser—combined with the Lava Lounge raffles that take place immediately following the dinner—raises a significant amount of revenue for the Foundation’s education and research programs as well as for AWCI Cares.
Thanks to the generous support of industry leaders, the Foundation raised more than $67,000 last year, which was used to fund its programs. The goal for 2007 is to raise $80,000.
In addition to attending these events, please consider making a tax-deductible donation of an item, service or cash to be used to purchase an item for this year’s event. In the past, some of the exciting and unique contributions that were auctioned included a NASCAR trip package, construction supplies, golf weekends, antique firearms, fine jewelry, original artwork and stays at a vacation home. Bidders can always expect to find some bargains as well.
Full convention registration packages include attendance at this event. Exhibitors and other guests can purchase tickets for $150.
The Foundation’s Diamond Society preview event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. immediately preceding the Party with a Purpose. The Diamond Society is a special distinction for silent auction contributors who increase their donation by 25 percent over last year, are first-time donors of $250 or more, or those who donate $2,500 or more to the silent auction. In addition to an invitation to this preview event, members of the Diamond Society also receive special recognition at the event itself.
The Lava Lounge, the Foundation’s after party, is a fun dance party featuring live music as well as the drawing for two raffles: the 2007 Ford Mustang GT Coupe (tickets are available in advance or at the event for $100 each or five for $400) and the David Yurman Bracelet (tickets are available in advance or at the event for $25 each or five for $100). Admission to the after party is included with a full registration or with the purchase of a Party with a Purpose ticket. Tickets to the Lava Lounge can be purchased for $50 each.
