In Memoriam: Fritz Stotmeister, Founder of Sto

Sto company founder Fritz Stotmeister passed away April 21 at the age of 94. Stotmeister shaped the company and thus the construction industry. His personality shapes the company’s values to this day: a personal interaction based on mutual help, respect and discipline.

Sto is a global business founded and led by members of the German Stotmeister family. Starting in 1936 with a cement and lime plant in Weizen, Fritz and his father, Wilhelm Stotmeister, pioneered the introduction of high-quality synthetic resin wall coatings in the European market. Since then, Sto has grown globally, with a significant share of that growth coming from the invention of insulated wall cladding systems in the 1960s. The company has grown through innovation and acquisition to be a major worldwide player in making buildings of all types energy efficient and enhancing their beauty and functionality.
