In the late 1970s, there was a clear recognition among industry leaders for the need to unite and expand the educational and research activities available to contractors, manufacturers, distributors and the public in general. At the time, there were many issues facing the industry—from a national energy crisis to injuries in the workplace, to unsafe buildings occupied by the public. In response to these issues, the Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry was formed in 1977 with the above mission statement as an IRS designated non-profit 501(c)3 corporation to pursue educational and research activities benefiting the industry and the public at large.
AWCI CARES was created to help provide financial assistance during times of need arising from sudden illness, accident, death or hardship to employees of any AWCI member company.
With funding and support from the Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry, AWCI partnered with FMI to conduct a comprehensive study of member industry trends. The findings from this report are intended to provide market insights that enable member companies and AWCI to think strategically about the market and their businesses.
The mission of the Foundation is to be an active, unbiased source of information, education and philanthropy that supports the wall and ceiling industry and to maintain those charitable programs that The Foundation endorses and maintains, including the AWCI CARES (Caring Action Relief in Emergency Situations) grant program or any other programs that may be established.
We will begin collecting donations for the 2026 event in mid-January, and the auction will take place during BUILD26, March 15-18, 2026.
