Designing sound transmission through wall partitions is challenging, especially when coordinating sound-rated and fire-rated assemblies. Strategies include resilient channels, double or staggered stud walls with insulation, and damped gypsum panels. This course covers best practices for high-sound transmission class assemblies.

Join us as AWCI’s Safety and Health Committee presents the ins and outs of peer safety reviews. A panel of industry safety leaders will discuss the process, benefits and lessons learned from successful reviews conducted in 2024.
Panel Speakers:
Mike Hill is senior manager, corporate safety at PCI, Performance Contracting Group. Mike has been in construction and with PCG for 15 years for which he has been on both the operations and safety side. Having been on the operational side of the company has afforded him the ability to relate to the field and operations and to know that safety and productivity go hand in hand. Mike is passionate about safety and leadership.
Chris Sanders, CHST, EMT, is vice president of safety for Valley Interior Systems where he manages environmental health and safety challenges the company faces as well as risk and liability. He is also a retired combat Veteran and a founding member and board member of 2tuff2talk.com, a mental health awareness non-profit organization geared specifically for construction workers.
Matthew Taylor, SMS, CHST, is the corporate safety director at OCP Contractors, Inc. in Toledo, Ohio. With more than 30 years, Matt is also OSHA Inspector. Matt is a past chair of the Safety Directors’ Committee.
Jorge Vazquez is currently the director of safety for the MAREK Family of Companies. His 20 year experience in the general and construction industry has helped him develop a passion for the safety in the workforce and a sense of pride for teaching others.
Rick Wood is the field superintendent and safety manager for J&J Acoustics, Inc. Rick provides the field and office with support ranging from pre-con, engineering, tech support and Safety. He has been in the construction industry for more than 30 years.
