Vince Bailey, in his Estimator’s Edge column in this month’s magazine, started with “Happy Days Are Here Again.” That sentiment applies here as well and could have also been the theme among attendees at AWCI’s Convention & INTEX Expo in Las Vegas at the end of March.
Attendance at AWCI’s annual convention and the INTEX Expo was more than 40 percent higher than attendance at the same event in 2016. The INTEX Expo also featured more booths—a total of 314—than the 2016 trade show. Even sponsorships surpassed expectations. Happy days are here again indeed!
Highlights of the five-day event included the inspiring words of Jeff Skiles at the Opening Session, continued progress at AWCI’s committee meetings, several networking receptions, and a thumping disco beat at Celebration Night.
During Celebration Night, people took part in a silent auction raffles that help support the programs of the Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry. The $5,000 raffle was won by 17 coworkers from National Gypsum who pooled their resources to purchase 10 raffle tickets, and Bryan Baker of Baker Drywall in Texas won the bracelet in the AWCI CARES Jewelry Raffle.
Thank you to Grabber Construction Products for being a sponsor of the $5,000 raffle, and to Richter System for sponsoring the jewelry raffle.
