For the first time in its nearly 100-year history, the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry will have a female president when Nancy Brinkerhoff joins the AWCI Executive Committee as its secretary on July 1, 2016. After going through the chairs, Brinkerhoff will be AWCI’s president in July 2019.
Brinkerhoff is CEO, president and CFO of Ironwood Commercial Builders, Inc., a Women’s Business Enterprise in Pleasant Hill, Calif. At ICBI, Brinkerhoff is in charge of all business development, along with all day-to-day operations. She is involved in other industry organizations as well. Among her current activities, Brinkerhoff is president of the Wall And Ceiling Alliance and a member of the National Association of Women in Construction.
The 2016–2017 executive slate was unanimously approved at the AWCI board of directors meeting held Oct. 16 in Vancouver during AWCI’s Industry Executives’ Conference & Committee Meetings:

- Ed Sellers of OCP Contractors in Ohio will be AWCI’s vice president.
- Jerry Smith will be AWCI’s treasurer.
- Brinkerhoff will be AWCI’s secretary.
“I’m honored—truly,” said Brinkerhoff at the board meeting. “This is a great organization and really a big moment in its history, and I’m proud to be the first woman going through the chairs.”
The board also approved Chip McAlpin of F.L. Crane & Sons in Fulton, Miss., as secretary-elect. Steve Hawkins of CertainTeed will join AWCI’s 2016–2017 board as supplier at-large.
