AWCI’s peer safety review team, which is made up of volunteers from AWCI’s Safety Directors Committee, met at the end of August to perform a three-day safety review for South Valley Drywall in Littleton, Colo., which is the company run by AWCI President Travis Vap.

The team evaluated the company’s safety performance and culture by performing inspections at a residential and a commercial construction project, and at the company’s prefabrication shop. The team also assessed the company’s written safety and health programs and recordkeeping documents, and interviewed employees and management. The results were presented to the executive management team on the final day of the review, and South Valley Drywall agreed to share lessons learned.

The AWCI Peer Safety Review Team is led by AWCI Safety Directors Committee Co-Chairs Ed Hanley, director of safety for The Raymond Group, and Cheryl Berman, risk manager for The Brady Companies.
