Smith Reaches Milestone at BakerTriangle

Jerry Smith reached his 40-year milestone with BakerTriangle, Texas, in January.

Smith, who is president of Baker Drywall Austin and also vice president of the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry, began his work with the company when Baker Drywall hired him as a helper in 1977 installing acoustical ceilings. Just 18 months later, he was promoted to foreman. By 1983 he moved into the office as an estimator trainee, and a few years later became a project manager. Opportunities opened for a branch office in Virginia, and Smith was selected to lead that office. Eventually, the Texas economy made it possible for a new office to open in Austin, and Smith found a new home in central Texas in 1995. Twenty-two years, later the Austin office has grown and become the go-to contractor for specialty commercial projects.
